A Woman that Will Be Remembered By History

U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi holds up the gavel as she stands on the podium with her grandchildren and the children and grandchildren of other representatives on the first day of the 110th Congress, January 4, 2007 (Reuters)

This elected woman, Nancy Pelosi, will always be remembered as the first female in the history of the United States to be the Speaker of the House.

Despite the bipartisan-driven politics in the US, however Pelosi's new position should make all American women proud for the achievement. I am not American, however happy and proud of her.

The United States was born in 1776. More than 200 years later, they succeeded in having the first female Speaker. There are so many countries that have been existing for centuries and their women do not have proper identity cards until today .... Congratulations!

You are so shallow. Merely impressed because the Speaker is a woman. I wonder when people are going to grow up and look at the content of a person character instead of fawning over gender.
Have some respect for yourself instead of highlighting inferiority complex laden stereotypes.

It is a historic moment. I just wish that the first female Speaker of the House was somebody else :(

Programmer Craig, I know what you mean. But the achievement itself must be applauded regardless. I hope she herself will be a driving force to push for a women empowerment agenda in the U.S. and worldwide...

Yes, America is still a shining model of democracy as its citizens can freely switch parties from Democratic to Republican and back again to Democratic.

Can Egyptians choose their President like Americans or Iraqis? I doubt! Arabism itself is an ideology that is racism, imperialism and colonialism. Egyptians are diverse, we have many religions, Syiah, Sunni, Druse, and Quraniyyah, as well as Christians and Siks. We have many races, Arabs, Kurds, Turks, Copts and Punjabis.

So, when will Egypt allow FREEDOM OF SPEECH, the right for an Egyptian not to learn Arabic and learn our own mother tongues!

Forcing Arabic down anyone's throat is racism. Assimilation is racism.

"barzan ibrahim," using Muslim names to promote anti-Muslim websites is lame. You sound like some coptic extremist moron who is high on crusade cola. What kind of idiot says "the right of Egyptians NOT to learn Arabic" when its the language of the land? This is just as retarded as demanding that Americans not learn English, but stick to Spanish, Italian and Greek. Grow up. America is NOT a democracy, if it was George Bush would not be in power, congress would not be bought off by corporate interests and most American would vote.
Turn off FOX news and get a clue you neocon pieces of shit.
