Islamists Took over Egypt Long time ago...

Nobel Prize winner Naguib Mahfouz is begging Islamists to allow him to publish his winning novel, "Children of the Alley" or Awlad Haretna in Arabic. Voila...
Universal Declaration of Human Rights-Article 1.
"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."

Hi Freedom, actually Mahmouz isn't begging them. Maybe the publishers are afraid. He's just acting on a matter of principle, something which we don't see often nowadays.
Read what he has to say about it here:

The core idea why in the first his novel be banned? Because some Sheikhs are controling our lives and hired themselves to control what we should read and listen....
Am I allowed to ask that those garbage books sold in the name of religion in the streets in Cairo to be taken, collected or censored. Those books that are printed in millions do not bring anything except backwardness and some hallucinations. But of course because they are branded "religious", so we can not complain them.
BTW, I read his novel when I was at school, but my family bought it secretly. I am sorry I am not accepting the treatment.
I agree with you, I'm just not blaming Mahmouz himself but the publishers and government which are foolishly following these sheikhs.
